                           Latest Statement from England Netball

In light of the government’s announcement today (16.03.2020) around Coronavirus (COVID-19), England Netball’s Health Advisory Group has reviewed the government guidance provided and has made the difficult decision to suspend netball activity across the country at all levels of the game at this time.

The health and safety of the Netball Family is our main priority and to avoid the spread of Coronavirus we will be continuing to follow the government’s advice, which is to move away from mass gatherings and for the public to avoid any unnecessary contact where possible over the coming weeks.

This means suspending competitions, courses, events, programmes, training sessions and all other forms of netball activity until further notice.

We are aware that the Coronavirus outbreak is a very fluid and rapidly changing situation. We will therefore continue to follow advice from Public Health England, the World Health Organisation and both local and national government on this matter and will keep the Netball Family updated as appropriate.

We know how great the Netball Family is at supporting each other and we ask that you continue to pull together (albeit virtually) during this difficult time. We will do our best to get you back on court as soon as it is safe to do so, but in the meantime please try to stay connected with your teammates, colleagues, fellow volunteers and others in the netball community as much as possible.

Our Health Advisory Group is working tirelessly to review all netball activity that was scheduled to take place in the coming weeks and will be providing guidance and support to the relevant parties over the coming days. We appreciate your patience in the interim.

Finally, we ask that you continue to follow the government’s guidance on how to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, by reviewing the advice provided here. Please stay safe and support each other during this hard time.

UPDATE ON SOUTHAMPTON NETBALL

FOLLOWING NEW GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES AND NO SOCIAL CONTACT

SOUTHAMPTON NETBALL ASSOCIATION HAS CANCELLED ALL  LEAGUE FIXTURES WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

SNA WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE AS AND WHEN THEY HAVE FURTHER INFORMATION

Statement from England Netball

The health and safety of the Netball Family, whether you’re a member, player, volunteer, staff member or fan, is our main priority, particularly during this busy season with competitions and leagues running across the county at all levels of the game including the Vitality Netball Superleague.

Currently, there are no plans to cancel, postpone or otherwise change any of the national competition and events England Netball delivers, however we are aware that the coronavirus outbreak is a very fluid and rapidly changing situation. We are in regular contact with the relevant authorities and venues, franchises and all key partners and stakeholders to monitor the situation.

We will continue to follow advice from Public Health England, the World Health Organisation and both local and national government on this matter.

We would like to draw the attention of anyone who attends any netball event or activity to the following general advice:

Frequently clean your hands in soap and water, or with an alcohol-based hand rub. We will endeavor to provide additional hand sanitizers where possible

If you cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue – throw the tissue away immediately and wash your hands

Avoid contact with anyone who has a fever or cough

Avoid unnecessary contact with ‘high touch’ areas such as handrails, lift buttons, door handles, surfaces etc

If you experience difficulty breathing, have a high temperature or cough, please stay at home and contact a medical advisor by phone

Players are entitled, should they wish, not to shake hands or have any other form of physical contact with their opponent or officials (for example at the end of their match)

Fans are advised that during this time players may not feel comfortable interacting with fans to their usual level and so it may be more difficult to obtain autographs or pictures with players. Fans are thanked for their understanding at this time.

If you are considering attending a netball event in any capacity and have recently returned to the UK from overseas, particularly affected parts of the world, we would like to draw your attention to the following advice from the UK Government: http://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

                                                                                       URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Some of our members have reported being contacted by Powerplay Netball. SNA would like to confirm that we  never release any of your information so this incident is being treated as a GDPR breach . We have contacted the company in question and are waiting in a response as to where they obtained contact details for some of our members.
We will update you as soon as we can and would like to reassure you that we take this very seriously.
